Junior Matchplay Champion Charlie MacFarlane is presented with the trophy by GGU President Andy Quinn.
The Strokeplay Championship determined qualification into the Matchplay Championship. The Semi-finals saw Charlie Macfarlane meet Harris McGregor, both players being members of the host club. This was a very competitive match with Charlie winning with a birdie 3 at the 17th hole.
The other semi-final saw Calum Morrison of Cowglen play Reece Coyle of Ralston Golf Club, this match was highly competitive with Reece victorious on the 20th! These results saw Reece play Charlie in the final and the latter played great golf to win 4&2
Commiserations to beaten Matchplay Semi Finalists: Harris MacGregor and Calum Morrison, both playing in their last Junior Championships. Harris is off to Strathclyde University and Calum, is off to the USA, to take up a golf scholarship in August as GGU Strokeplay Champion. Also to Cameron Burns who took ill during the week of the Championships and we all wish him a speedy recovery.
Congratulations to all who took part in our 2026 Junior Championships Events Week. Plenty of excellent play on display across the days to complement the good weather. Well done everyone!
Special thanks to all our hosts at Glasgow Killermont GC and for presenting the course in excellent condition and to the catering staff for looking after us throughout the week. Special thanks to John and Kirsty Greaves for being such great supporters of the GGU. Charlie will be eligible to defend his title next year but Reece will no longer meet the age limit, after a stellar career in the Junior County Teams.
With the emerging talent on show this week the GGU is confident that with the support of our member clubs and their parents, officials and professionals that we have exciting prospects coming through to eventually step up and take the places of those who leave us this year.
