The Glasgow Open Amateur Championship was held at Pollok Golf Club on Sunday 11th August.  Prior to the competition there had been numerous weather warnings of heavy rain, but the competition did manage to get underway at 7.30am. However the weather did not improve during the course of the morning and the competition unfortunately had to be restricted to 18 holes due to the adverse conditions.

The winner was Brendan McKenna of Pollok Golf Club who won in a sudden death playoff against Willie McMillan of Bonnyton Golf Club. Both players handled the poor conditions very well with fine scratch scores of 66 (-5). Brendan went on to win with a birdie at the first hole.

Thank you to all the players who braved the elements and to Pollok Golf Club for presenting an excellent course despite the very wet weather before and during the event.
