Inter-Area Seniors' Team Championship
GGU's 6 man team came good in the Scottish Seniors' Golfing Society Inter Area Team Championship held recently over the Moray course. Whether it was due to low-flying jets or the strong winds the Glasgow boys kept their heads well down and turned in very respectable scores in what were difficult conditions. A total of 9 areas were represented in the competition where the best 5 scores from the 6 team players were aggregated to produce the team total.
The competition was won by a team representing the North-East with a combined score of 386. Glasgow took second place with a total of 388, just edging out South of Scotland on countback.
The Glasgow team, with their individual scores, was Graham Cox (Pollok) 76, Peter Jamieson (Cathkin Braes) 76, John McDonald (Cowglen) 79, Alastair MacMillan (Williamwood) 74, Jim McNally (Williamwood) 86, John Shand (Cowglen)83. Alastair MacMillan's score of 74 put him in the top 5 competitors in the event
