Annual Dinner 2009
More than 150 guests attended the 45th Annual Dinner of the Glasgow Golf Union, which was held at Sandyhills Golf Club on Friday 6th March 2009.
All eleven area clubs were represented with a large turnout from the host club Sandyhills. Those attending were well looked after by the staff at Sandyhills and a most enjoyable evening was had by all.
Among the top table guests were the President of the SGU Mr Ian Ross who replied to a toast made to the SGU. The prize draw collected a fantastic £820 all of which will go to the development of junior golf in the Glasgow Area and thanks go to everybody who participated, the clubs and captains who donated prizes and of course our sponsors without whom we would be unable to run all of the great competitions throughout the year.
Honorary Secretary and Past President of Glasgow, Ronald Jamieson, presented this year's winners with their trophies.
Gordon Fuller, Ralston, Gordon Smart La Cala and Graeme McDougall Bishopbriggs all received their trophies for wins during the year and Ray Burnett Past Captain of Cathkin Braes picked up both the Matchplay Championship and Order of Merit trophies on behalf of Gordon Sangster of Cathkin Braes.
