Scottish Golf Union Development Pathway
Glasgow Golf Union is actively supporting the 5-Step Development Pathway introduced by SGU in 2005.
The Pathway consists of 5 specific milestones in Young Golfers development:
- Levels 1 & 2 are delivered at Club level by Professional or volunteer coaches.
- Level 3 is delivered by Glasgow Golf Union coach, Simon Payne using templates provided by Scottish Golf Union.
- Level 4 delivered by national coaches to groups of young golfers through a talent identification procedure as a progression from Level 3.
- Level 5 is delivered at national level coaching under the supervision of Scottish Golf Union coach Ian Rae.
At present Glasgow Golf Union has 25 boys, (14 and under 16 years of age) at Level 3.
In addition Glasgow Golf Union has 4 boys who have progressed to Level 4 and these boys have on several occasions been involved with the Scotland Development Squad.
